OCTOBER 2001 PRESS RELEASE:

'AT HOME' IN BULGARIA

Wireframe have recently returned from the first international performances of 'At Home', their acclaimed show for one person every fifteen minutes. The performances were part of the Pierrot 2001 International Festival of Puppet Theatre for Adults, held annually in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

'At Home' is a unique performance, a "subtle, sensual and mystical space for quiet contemplation and unexpected revelation. It's a magical installation, full of the pleasure of playful discovery…" (Total Theatre, 03.2000). One person explores the installation alone for fifteen minutes, encountering moments of "thought-provoking tenderness" (Time Out 03.2000); a chance to think and reflect in safe isolation.

The performance proved to be ideal for international presentation, as there is no verbal language used, and there is emphasis on the audience's own interpretation of the performance. As with previous UK performances of 'At Home' the company were keen to record their audience's response to the work, and were happy to find that it spoke to people from very different cultural backgrounds:

" I found it odd, but quite pleasing. I enjoyed it immensely… If you weren't going away tomorrow I would surely come to see it again" - Dr Dandov, Bulgaria

"It is something new for me! New experience! Very good!" - M. Bradan, Slovenia

"It makes people happy and free - it's amazing!" - P. Zlatanova, Bulgaria

"I fully enjoyed your show, startling I felt… it was very inspiring, and moving…" - D. Ludlow, USA

'At Home' proved to be such a success in Stara Zagora that it was extended: Wireframe performed for an extra day due to popular demand! With it's origins in Wireframe's exploratory style 'At Home' provoked much interest in Bulgaria. The company were interviewed for two national television stations, and two radio stations:

Ben Pacey, speaking on behalf of Wireframe said "The opportunity to perform in Bulgaria has been extremely beneficial for us; we have made contact with individuals and organisations from across the world, including Taiwan, the USA, Russia, Slovenia and Bulgaria. We hope to be able to build on these friendships in the future".

'At Home' is currently available for national and international performances.
